Exploring the full range of human expression could take a lifetime. In their newest production, Kyiv will take a small glimpse into how the Ukrainian people express themselves through dance and music. Special collaborations with Gerdan Music Ensemble and photographer Michael Haritan.
Special Guests Gerdan Kalaidascope of Music
Gerdan- Kaleidoscope of Ukrainian music is founded by Grammy winning flutist Andrei Pidkivka and renowned violinist Solomia Gorokhivska. The ensemble is named after Gerdan, a multi-colored, intricately woven beaded necklace from the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine.
Gerdan brings the rich musical traditions of Ukraine and Eastern Europe to life through innovative and captivating performances.
Drawing inspiration from centuries-old folk melodies and rhythms, Gerdan creates original arrangements that seamlessly blend traditional music with elements of Jazz, Americana, and Contemporary styles. Featuring authentic Ukrainian instruments alongside modern
instrumentation, Gerdan's performances are both deeply rooted in cultural heritage and refreshingly modern, offering audiences a vibrant musical experience that bridges the past and the present while
celebrating the universal language of music.
New work - Remember
Using the thought provoking and heartbreaking photography of Michael Haritan. Natalie Kapeluck has created a new work to remember the 40th Anniversary of the Chornobyl Nuclear Disaster and its long reaching effects.
